An information design project, transforming complex scientific information into visually appealing and accessible infographics for use on the Target Spondyloarthritis website.
UCB requested Costello Medical’s support in developing and designing content to be included in the launch of their new Target Spondyloarthritis website. The website is a medical education website targeted at educating HCPs on the pathobiology of spondyloarthritis and to motivate HCPs towards early diagnosis and utilising treatment targets to improve patient outcomes.

Whilst Costello are responsible for the development of additional content for the website, UCB are responsible for the build of the official website and the content across the initial three main page. Working alongside 3 scientific colleagues, we are responsible for the development of infographics, videos and blog posts added to the website within sections of the main pages. As the sole designer for the infographics on this project, I worked closely with scientific colleagues to interpret and present the complex scientific data they sourced and compiled. This was a challenging process due to ensuring each data visualisation accurately reflected complex scientific statements and correctly emphasised the key messages of each infographic.

Content was released in different phases - Phase 1 in September 2023 and Phase 2 in November 2023. Due to this content being added alongside the main website content, the infographics needed to align with the styling of the existing website content and meet UCB brand guideline requirements. In addition to the infographics, thumbnail designs were developed for these, the videos and blog posts seen across the website - ensuring each thumbnail accurate conveyed the overarching message and data from the longer content within.

Phase 2 content makes use of a different style to Phase 1 due to these infographics using content
from UCB’s EULAR 2023 medical congress. As a result, these infographics reflect styling from the UCB’s EULAR branding (use of gradients, two tone and colour background) whilst also keeping in line with elements from the Phase 1 infographics. Furthermore, for Phase 2 content, a website and downloadable version was created - this was to avoid the duplication of infographic titles seen on
the pages of Phase 1 infographics.
